Youth Racing

An extension after Tackers for those looking to join the Humpybong Optimist or Laser 4.7 Teams. This will involve introductory racing to get the kids used to the concepts of sailing in a group. Youth Racing will incorporate Australian Sailing’s Green Fleet principals but also move beyond these towards club racing.

For those kids just coming out of Tackers we have a number of racing Optimist boats available for their use. This will give the kids an introduction to the non-plastic Optimist dinghies. Sailors who stay in the Optimsit Team long term are encouraged to buy their own boats to grow the team.

Youth Racing will involve some racing close to shore and occasionally joining the adults on the outer race course for some open water experience. Youth Racing runs on Sundays starting at 12:30 and is prepaid by the term. (See calendar for days and booking details)

Humpybong Optimist or Laser 4.7 Teams

Kids who join the Humpybong Optimist or Laser 4.7 Teams get the opportunity to participate in regattas around the region including Kepple Bay, Lake Cootharaba, Lake Samsonvale, Darling Point, Royal Queensland at Manly and Southport.
