Club Racing

Club racing at Humpybong Yacht Club is open to for all members of the club with off-the-beach dinghies and catamarans.  We also encourage visiting sailors with Australian Sailing memberships from other clubs to join in, but ask that after three race days you join our club as well.

Humpybong Yacht Club is a family focused sailing club and we actively encourage competitors of all experience levels to take part.

The regular events we run through the year are:

HYC Club Championship

Club Champion in each Division is determined from 12 races run on weekends over the year; 1 weekend in each of the seasons. The divisions are based on VYC with four competitors required to constitute a division.

Handicap Points Score

The handicap points score series will be run through the year as a way of ensuring that some of the less experienced sailors get to win. The event is sailed in two divisions; catamarans and dinghies , and are sailed on a shortened course.

All competitors are given a handicap that will change according to the places they get on the previous weekend. That handicap is applied at the start of the race with the intention that fleet finishes will be close and everyone gets a chance to take the gun.

The Bay Wanderer Series

The Bay Wanderer series has been buiilt on the fun that members have been taking from the format of the Winterbash regatta. Most months we will run a single race with a duration of 2-3 hours. The race will generally be around exisitng marks in theh Bramble Bay area and potentially up as far as Redcliffe.
