Join us on for the 1st National Deaf Sailing Regatta supported by Australian Deaf Games 2026!
This is the only Deaf Sailing regatta for off-the-beach classes QLD.
Hearing loss rules for the Australian Deaf Games apply.
The regatta is a 4-day event, including training, competition and social sailing.
The event is an opportunity for serious competitors to first-time regatta participants and offers junior coaching and social networking.

Race Format
The format for the racing is Round Robin with finals. Because we will be using supplied RS Quests all of the boats will be equal and there won’t be a need for ratings/yardsticks. The example below shows 9 teams. The final draw will depend on how many teams register.
Teams will be placed into the draw randomly. Each team will get to race some of the other teams and after each race one or more teams will be swapped out on the water to give the next team a chance to race that boat.

Free Coaching
We offer coaching to all teams that want to be involved. This is a great opportunity especially to those new to competitions.
We will be offering training briefings on the Friday and pre-racing briefs each day. Matthew Johnson and Emily Vivian will be coaches for the event.
On-site camping
The club will make facilities (toilets and showers) available for campers over the weekend. When you register, let us know if you are camping so we can get in touch to confirm when you are arriving and we can keep you informed about camping at HYC. Refer to the site map to locate where to pitch your tent (indicated by the tent symbols on the map).
