New Arrivals @ HYC

15 Apr 09 11:49

Some new arrivals at HYC this month.

Some good news from 2 family members Lloyd (Dog) & Calambia Bradshaw with the arrival of a new baby boy and Matthew & Simonne Johnson with the arrival of a new baby girl. All are healthy and Humpybong Yacht Club would like to congratulate both families. We look forward to a visit from our new recruits soon.

On another note, the club took delivery today, Wednesday 25th March 2009, of 6 Optimist sailing dinghies thanks to the Queensland Government and The Gambling Community Benifits Fund. The boats should have a workout this comming Saturday with the last day of this round of the Learn to Sail classes.

We have quite a few Juniors and I am sure you are all looking foward to seeing them excel in our sport. This is now a reality and we will need alot of support to get the juniors up to speed. One thing this committee has set out to do over the past 2 seasons is see a junior fleet on the water. The boats are brand new and are for the use of our junior sailors and a commitment from them and their mums and dads to treat these boats, as they would, if they were their own. Saturday we should see Erin Gallagher, an ex-Optimist World Class sailor, grace our club helping us and our Juniors with rigging tips for these mighty little boats. So if you have been waiting to bring your Juniors along, this is the time to get them started.

The club will now channel its efforts into the junior side of sailing and intends to forster all that have done our learn to sail classes, Adults included. So if you have something to give by the way of time come along on Saturday and be involved.
