Is your boat wasting away? Why not give it and yourself some well earned quality time on the waterr. All craft deteriorate if not regularly maintained, inspected and protected from the weather. Keep your craft in top condition and maintain its value through regular use, inspection and maintenance so it is safe to operate on the water. Regular checks reduce the risk of breakages and damage from corroded, damaged or worn fittings. How long has it been since you last checked your boat over? October's second Long Course race series provided excellent sailing for competitors with nary a jellyfish to be seen, unlike previous weeks when jelly armada's caused grief for some.The racing was hot with fierce competition and strategic moves seeing a number of skippers take good advantage of variable winds and flood and ebb tides to cement their spots on the leaderboard. The new course marks and gates provided some lively commentary and challenged entrants to adapt their usual race strategies to the new format.

Sailors in this years Humpybash had to put up with moderate to heavy weather conditions over the weekend with Sunday increasing from light to moderate to very fresh winds and choppy seas which kept the 39 skippers and their crews on their toes. Adrian Fawcett and Jess Dobie in their F16 took overall honors for division one. Robbie Lea claimed 4 wins from 6 races to take the series win in Division 2 and Luis Ferro beat back the other monohulls securing three wins in a row on the second day to clinch the series.Collett takes fifth in A Worlds

Brad Collett claimed fifth spot overall at the A class World championships held at Aarhus, Denmark in an exciting race series that went down to the wire. Five Aussies filled the top five placings with Steve Brewin only claiming first place and championship winner from Scott Anderson in the final race. Hot class sailor Jack Benson who won the final race ahead of Brewin claimed third place and was followed by Andrew Landenberger and then Brad who had consistent good reesults throughout the weeks racing but could not break through ahead of his competitors.Brad Collett at A Class Worlds

HYC sailor Brad Collett is mixing it with the best in international competition as he races in the A Class Catamaran World Championship being held at Aarhus in Denmark from 14 to 20 August 2011.Competitors are expected to face light to moderate winds and temperatures of around 20C. Brad will be sailing a Scheuerer boat, and seeking to secure a top placing after winning both the New South Wales and Queensland State Titles earlier this year. He is one of eleven sailors in the Australian contingent including seven times world champion Glenn Ashby,Steve Brewin and Andrew Landenberger. 18 foot A class catamarans are the state of the art development class weighing in at 75 kg and remain the fastest single handed small catamaran in the world.
