Hi to all,
Well the Bias Boating Warehouse Humpybash has come and gone and good old Huey The Wind God was not kind to us, with 25 kn winds forecast and seas to 2.5 m, it was enough to keep even the keenest of sailors away. The event managed to 25 registrations, received on the Saturday, with only 10 boats are electing to start race one in conditions that could only be described as very bumpy. Division 1 saw five F-18's and one A class on the start line and division 2 had three Hobie 16 's and one 16sq. This race only had one boat cross the finish line with three F-18's coming to grief on the first downwind and the Hobie 16's electing not to finish along with the 16 square. Race two and three were postponed with only two boats committed to start. Sunday again saw winds up and seas rough, and a postponement was made 10:30 a.m. and an abandonment of the regatta at 12:30 p.m., this meant that a series was not completed and no winners were announced. This was a real disappointment to all and a strong regret on the club's behalf, that we could not deliver the great regatta promised. Humpybong Yacht Club would like to thank all of their sponsors for their commitment to this event and a special thanks to Bias Boating Warehouse for the generosity in the naming of this event. Thanks to Moreton Bay Marine Suppliers, Brisbane Catamaran Centre, The Professionals Woody Point and North Sails Brisbane, and 99.7fm. At this stage the club does not have any intentions of rerunning this event. Thank you to those that did attend an attempt to make it a success. |
